Guides Directory

As the group is already skyward, they want to leave Ba Sing Se as soon as possible, but Sokka convinces everyone to stay and try one more time to talk to the Earth King, or they'll have no chance of winning the war against the Fire Nation. Appa turns around and heads for the royal palace, where the kids bend their butts off and storm the throne room, where Long Feng and the Dai Li threaten them, but Aang gets the Earth King to listen when he confirms himself as the Avatar.

They go on to explain everything that's been happening, from the war to the brainwashing, all of which Long Feng denies, but when he said he'd never even seen Appa before, Aang exposes the bite on his leg. The Earth King is now intrigued as to what else he may be hiding, and allows the Avatar to take him out of the palace, which he's never done before. Aang shows him the Fire Nation drill, and when he sees the insignia, he immediately has Long Feng arrested for his conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Zuko and Iroh return home after freeing Appa, and Zuko immediately takes ill. He begins to have nightmares, of himself as the Fire Lord, and then hearing his uncle's voice telling him to take another path. When he finally wakes up, he looks in the mirror and sees himself as an Air Nomad, before realizing it was another dream, touching his scar to confirm he's finally awake.

With Long Feng gone, Sokka is able to convince the Earth King to put his resources behind fighting the Fire Nation during the eclipse. A search of Long Feng's office reveals notes for the group that he had hidden, and the kids go over them, finding they each have different places they need to visit. Aang decides to go meet Guru Pathik, Sokka goes to see his father and the Southern Water Tribe men, and Toph goes to see her mother who's come to town, while Katara remains in Ba Sing Se to help the battle planning.

Toph enters the building where her mother is staying, but it's actually a trap set up by Master Yu and Xin Fu, who contain her in a metal cage and take her out of the city. Before Appa's departure, Sokka is informed of the Kyoshi Warriors arriving, who he tells the Earth King are their friends, but the girls they let in are Princess Azula, Mai and Ty Lee in disguise.
