Guides Directory

Just as Zuko begins Aang's Firebending lessons, he comes to find that he can't Firebend anymore. They figure it's because he's lost the rage that fueled his powers, so Toph recommends re-training himself with the original Firebenders like she did with the badger-moles. This reminds Zuko of an ancient race of humans that learned from the dragons, so perhaps visiting their last known whereabouts would help.

Aang and Zuko take Appa to the ancient city, where they're taken in by how functional everything has remained despite being so old. When they come across a painting of a Firebending move, they imitate it in order to raise an artifact from the floor, but when Zuko touches it, they set off a trap that binds them until the Sun Warriors arrive to have them punished.

Amazed that the civilization is still alive and kicking, Zuko and Aang apologize and explain that they were trying to train the Avatar. The Sun Warriors forgive them, and set to work teaching them both the original hallmarks of Firebending power, requesting they hold the Eternal Flame in their hands and take it to the mountaintop, where they encounter the only two living dragons left on Earth. They fly around Aang and Zuko, the two soon figuring out they wish to dance, and perform the move they learned earlier, earning the respect of the dragons. When they test out their skills, both are able to produce massive flames, and the Sun Warriors instill the lesson of summoning inner fire not from anger, but from passion.
